Living in Vancouver means there is always a new corner to explore or a new dish to try. Over the last few months, I’ve been documenting individual stops on the blog, but I wanted to gather them all in one place. Whether you are looking for a quiet coffee pause, a solo lunch, or a dinner with friends, here is a roundup of 5 places I’ve visited recently that are worth a stop.
1. For some quiet pause: Tru Cafe
📍 Near Granville Island
If you need a break from the bustle of Granville Island, this is the spot. It’s small, cozy, and it just smells like good coffee.
- Vibe: Warm lighting and perfect for people-watching or reading.
- Order this: Pistachio Matcha Cookie. It has that perfect crisp edge with a soft, buttery middle. Pair it with a warm matcha latte.
2. For a solo date: Oishinoya
📍 West Broadway
Eating alone doesn’t have to be awkward. Oishinoya brings the Tokyo-style “solo booth” dining experience to Vancouver.
- Vibe: Introvert-friendly. You get your own little booth, so it’s just you and the food.
- Order this: Gyudon (beef bowl). It’s simple and hearty.
3. For burger craving: Street Hawker
📍 Main Street
Want a burger without the fuss and with a lot of style? Street Hawker catches attention immediately with its neon, retro branding.
- Vibe : Fast-casual but cool. It feels like a modern classic diner.
- Order this: Sonic Shroom or All-American smash burger. Both are tasty, but the classic burger is the best value. Skip the fancy fries and grab a milkshake instead.
4. For the seafood lovers: Crab Hot Lau
📍 Kingsway
This place is popular for a reason (definitely make a reservation if you’re going around 7 PM!). It offers delicious Vietnamese comfort food with signature crab dishes.
- Vibe: Bustling and lively.
- Order this: Crab Meat Noodle Soup has a wonderfully light but flavourful broth. Don’t leave without trying the Crispy Square Crab Spring Rolls, they are a highlight!
5. For the brunch fix: Ngon
📍 Kingsway
I already loved this spot for their bánh mì, but I recently went back to try their steak and eggs. While the sizzling platter wasn’t quite as sizzling as I hoped, the flavours were there.
- Vibe: Casual Vietnamese dining.
- Order this: Bò Né. Even if the theatrics were mild, the taste makes the trip worth it.
Have you tried any of these yet? Let me know if you have other Vancouver recommendations I should add to my list for 2026!
