I recently travelled to Kelowna, BC with my partner for a long weekend to visit his university friends. One place I had been curious about for years was Kangaroo Creek Farm, a popular Kelowna attraction I first heard about from a close friend. As someone who had never seen a kangaroo in real life, my only reference being cartoon characters like Hippety Hopper, and I was excited to finally go.
When I saw a kangaroo up close, I realized they were much more muscular than I imagined. One particularly large kangaroo, possibly the elder of the group, was in a spacious fenced area because he could be a bit temperamental. Standing taller than most people I know, he had a presence that was both impressive and awe-inspiring.

Meeting the wallabies was a different kind of delight. They were smaller, calm, and happy to interact, and I enjoyed getting to feed them the snacks provided by the staff.

The farm is home to more than just kangaroos and wallabies. There are capybaras (my spirit animal), colourful parrots, and other animals to see. I appreciated how the staff respected the animals’ needs. For example, the capybaras have their own private area where visitors aren’t allowed, and staff are always nearby to make sure no one disturbs an animal that’s resting.

The highlight for me was holding a baby wallaby, so tiny, soft, and precious! If I lived in Kelowna, I’d probably visit Kangaroo Creek Farm every summer.
Have you ever been to Kangaroo Creek Farm? Or is it on your bucket list for your next trip to Kelowna?
