Tucked away in Saigon, Shibui Concept is the kind of place that speaks softly but leaves a strong impression. The name shibui comes from a Japanese word that once described the astringent taste of an unripe persimmon – later evolving into a philosophy of subtle, unpretentious beauty. That essence carries through everything here.
I visited this café with my old high school friends, and it felt like déjà vu in the best way. Time has passed, we’ve all grown up, but some things stay familiar, like laughter over good drinks.
We ordered creamy avocado matcha, Japanese Mugicha, and matcha latte that was as photogenic as it was refreshing. The flavours were balanced, not too sweet, not too strong, just right for slowing down and enjoying the moment.

Minimal wood interiors, shelves lined with books and vinyl, soft music drifting from the speakers. It’s a calm pocket in the middle of a busy city, where you can sip slowly and breathe.
If you’re in Saigon and looking for a spot that’s more than just another coffee stop, Shibui is worth finding. It’s at 176 Lê Lai, Phường Phạm Ngũ Lão, Quận 1, Hồ Chí Minh, Vietnam.
